China's truck industry has clearly shifted gears this week. New-energy heavy trucks are no longer confined to fixed shuttle routes at mines and ports; they are testing cross-provincial trunk lines, where range and charging efficiency face their hardest test. Light trucks, meanwhile, are pushing range anxiety back inch by inch with ever-larger battery packs. The way manufacturers go abroad is changing too — from simply selling vehicles to moving the entire chain of R&D, manufacturing, remanufacturing, certification and service overseas together.
On September 20, 2026, XCMG held a global launch event in Xuzhou, Jiangsu Province, under the theme "Hanjing Opens a Smart Era, Driving Across Vast Territories," unveiling its new-generation new-energy heavy truck, Hanjing. Industry representatives, logistics customers, supply chain partners and media attended. XCMG said new-energy heavy trucks are moving from fixed short-haul routes toward cross-regional trunk lines, where long-distance range, rapid charging, stable uptime and operating returns must all be proven on real transport routes.
The truck uses an 800V high-voltage platform supporting megawatt-level ultra-fast charging, lifting battery state of charge from 20 percent to 80 percent in under 20 minutes. A low-drag cab, a self-developed integrated e-axle and intelligent control strategies cut energy consumption, while a 1,500 MPa hot-formed steel body, multi-layer battery thermal protection and a central domain controller with highway NOA address safety and driving comfort. Before the launch, the vehicle completed a 24-hour endurance test at the Zhongqi Yancheng proving ground, covering 2,198 kilometers at 49 tonnes gross weight. XCMG also introduced its "1528" service pledge of a 15-minute complaint response, a two-hour on-site engineer arrival, an eight-hour fault repair and 365-day operation, wrapped into a vehicle-charger-network-service operational ecosystem.
On September 20, 2026, Sinotruk held a launch event in Kunming, Yunnan Province, for its HOWO new-energy light truck fitted with a 218 kWh CATL battery pack. Kunming sits on the Yunnan-Guizhou Plateau, where mountainous terrain makes heavy-load climbing and long-distance, multi-stop distribution routine, and where conventional diesel transport has long faced high operating costs, noticeable power loss and frequent maintenance. Sinotruk said the launch responds to China's dual-carbon strategy and is closely tailored to the complex working conditions of southwest China, with the aim of delivering green capacity solutions with a strong whole-lifecycle cost advantage.
The model features dual-gun 2C fast charging, a four-speed transmission for strong and smooth power delivery, a 610-liter high-strength steel straight frame and widened axles that combine load capacity with reliability. Backed by a high-capacity battery platform and six energy-saving measures, the truck is designed to extend range while significantly cutting operating costs. At the event, dealers and major customers took the stage to complete a strategic cooperation signing, which Sinotruk described as market recognition of the HOWO light truck's product strength and service capability, and as a joint step toward exploring a new green logistics model and upgrading new-energy transport capacity in southwest China.
On September 19, 2026, Dongfeng Liuzhou Motor held its autumn 2026 new-product launch, themed "Chenglong with Xinghai, Toward a New Future," at its test center in Liuzhou, Guangxi. Commercial vehicles took the leading role: the event presented the Chenglong Yiwei 5 super-capacity version, the Chenglong Yiwei 5 ultra-light 3.0 version and the Chenglong H5 PRO, and released overseas commercial vehicle products including the CHENGLONG H5 PRO LNG and CHENGLONG H5V range-extender together with a new CHENGLONG right-hand-drive platform. The passenger-vehicle line-up — the Fengxing Xinghai V6, the Lingzhi family and the overseas FORTHING X5E and FORTHING V6E — appeared alongside them.
Commercial vehicles were the core of the launch. The Chenglong Yiwei 5 super-capacity tractor, built on Dongfeng Group's T1 architecture platform, has an 8.8-tonne curb weight, energy consumption as low as one kilowatt-hour per kilometer and megawatt-level charging that takes state of charge from 20 percent to 80 percent in 20 minutes; the ultra-light 3.0 version targets lightweighting, while the H5 PRO has a chassis weighing as little as 5.18 tonnes and a 390-horsepower Yuchai engine that saves 1.5 liters per 100 kilometers against competitors under the same conditions. On the overseas side, the new CHENGLONG right-hand-drive platform was released together with LNG and range-extender powertrain options, forming localized product combinations for different markets. Dongfeng Liuzhou reported cumulative sales of 89,439 units in the first eight months of 2026, up 26 percent year on year.

On September 20, 2026, the Zhejiang leg of the first Intelligent Robot Application Skills Exhibition, hosted by China Media Group, opened in Hangzhou, bringing together more than 300 intelligent robots of various forms to demonstrate multi-scenario practical applications in air-ground coordination. LiuGong's 922FE autonomous electric excavator appeared in the fixed-point demonstration zone, using live operation drills to show the precision, safety and intelligence of unmanned equipment as a frontier technology in autonomous construction machinery.
On site, the machine completed the full cycle of digging, slewing, precise unloading and site leveling without manual operation in the cab, relying on a multi-sensor fusion system comprising lidar, visual perception and inertial navigation. LiuGong said the 922FE primarily targets earthmoving, port and tunnel applications, and that the related technology can be transferred to large and ultra-large mining excavators, replacing manual excavation, stripping and loading cycles in open-pit mines and supporting uninterrupted operation in conditions difficult for operators to endure. The machine can also connect to a fleet dispatching system for multi-unit coordinated construction. LiuGong added that its "intelligent perception, intelligent decision-making and automatic execution" system already covers loaders, excavators, rollers and wide-body trucks.
Recently, XCMG held a groundbreaking ceremony for its Indonesia remanufacturing center in Balikpapan. As XCMG's first overseas overhaul and remanufacturing base for mining equipment components, the project marks the start of an aftermarket service center covering the equipment lifecycle and signals a key step in the company's localization strategy in Indonesia. Recently, the 2026 Saudi Warehousing & Logistics Expo opened at the Riyadh International Convention and Exhibition Center in Saudi Arabia, where Weichai presented its WP12H engine and explored market opportunities with industry partners. Weichai said it has deeply integrated into the local market since entering Saudi Arabia and has now built a comprehensive sales and service network, with product deliveries reported frequently.
To date, cumulative deliveries and orders of tractors fitted with the WP12H have exceeded 800 units, covering mainstream segments such as port tractors, trunk-line haulage, car carriers and tanker transport. Meanwhile, Weichai's technical service team has completed product benchmarking and testing of the WP12H on mainstream Saudi transport routes, with all engine performance parameters comprehensively outperforming competing products, providing strong support for future product promotion and customer-specific customization. Weichai said it will continue to anchor its globalization direction, refine product strength and deepen localized services.
XCMG taking electrification onto trunk lines, LiuGong putting autonomous machines and competition-grade equipment in front of global audiences, Dongfeng Liuzhou building a right-hand-drive platform for overseas buyers, Weichai locking in powertrain partnerships while its engines gain ground on Saudi Arabian transport routes — these are different stories pointing the same way: the Chinese answer to overseas customers is becoming more local, more complete and more service-driven. It is still early. Charging coverage, service reach and resale value remain open questions in most export markets, and turning a first order into a lasting fleet relationship takes years rather than weeks. Even so, if the direction of this period holds, Chinese brands may soon be judged less by how many units they ship and more by how deeply they have rooted themselves in the markets they serve. That is a race well worth watching.
