    Opening

The week's China heavy-equipment export story comes down to one word: localization. XCMG delivered a 3,000-tonne wheeled crane to Buenos Aires, Argentina, setting a new record for China's largest-tonnage wheeled crane export. Dongfeng rolled the first locally built complete vehicle off its Southeast Asian production line, against a 188 percent year-on-year rise in its medium- and heavy-duty truck sales in the region. LiuGong opened its Canadian subsidiary in Québec, and FAW TRUCKS shipped 100 6×4 tractor trucks to Nigeria. The exhibition front was just as busy: XCMG appeared in both Mongolia and Thailand, with presentations, signings and deliveries on site. Selling machines is step one; leaving behind an organization, certifications, parts and service is what these companies were really competing on this week.

Dongfeng Holds Southeast Asia Regional Business Meeting as First Locally Built Vehicle Rolls Off the Line

From September 25 to 26, 2026, Dongfeng held a two-day event in Southeast Asia combining its 2026 Southeast Asia Regional Business Meeting, the rollout of the first vehicle from its local plant and a new-product showcase. The first locally built complete vehicle came off the production line on September 26. Partners from Indonesia, Vietnam, Thailand, Malaysia, Pakistan and the Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan regions of China attended to discuss regional market plans and witness the rollout.

Dongfeng's medium- and heavy-duty truck sales in Southeast Asia have increased 188 percent year on year since the start of 2026. Yang Tao, deputy general manager of Dongfeng Motor Industry International Co., Ltd., said Southeast Asia is a market requiring a long-term approach, and that the company will build long-term cooperation around customer needs, partner profitability and stronger local brand operations, improving products and services based on customers' actual operating conditions to help them cut operating costs and raise efficiency. During the meeting, executives from Dongfeng's overseas medium- and heavy-duty commercial vehicle business presented plans for regional marketing, product development, sales network management, after-sales service and spare-parts supply, and presented four awards: the Sales Leadership Award, Operations Benchmark Award, Breakthrough Growth Award and Service Excellence Award. Dongfeng said local production will bring vehicles closer to customers and market needs, shorten delivery times, reduce cross-border logistics costs and develop local capabilities in technology, manufacturing processes, management and talent. Following the rollout, Dongfeng showcased new products designed for Southeast Asian operating conditions and local regulations, covering construction, long-haul transportation, new-energy vehicles and specialized vehicle conversions.

XCMG New-Energy Heavy Trucks Debut at the 24th Indonesia International Mining Exhibition

On September 29, 2026, XCMG Automobile announced that the 24th Indonesia International Mining Exhibition had concluded, where it presented new-energy products. Responding to high temperature and humidity, steep and slippery grades, heavy dust and salt-spray corrosion on coastal routes, the battery-electric tractor and battery-electric dump truck on display were developed specifically for local conditions. The battery-electric dump truck targets heavy-load shuttle haulage inside mining areas, using a reinforced frame, heavy-duty suspension and optimized dust-sealing design to handle full-load climbing and muddy, dusty conditions; the battery-electric tractor focuses on the local "mine–port–smelter" route, balancing long-distance capacity, energy consumption and driving experience through efficient powertrain matching and an ergonomic cab.

XCMG said it integrates Indonesian working conditions into product development using the group's local R&D, production and financial resources, and works with local partners to complete sales, operations, spare-parts and aftermarket service systems. At the show, the XCMG team discussed equipment selection, condition matching and whole-lifecycle operating costs with customers, offering integrated solutions and reaching several cooperation intentions. XCMG exhibited loaders, reach stackers, truck cranes, dump trucks and tractors, and was the only manufacturer at the show displaying a complete new-energy equipment lineup. Exhibits included the XC968-EV battery-electric loader, which delivers zero-emission operation and stable performance at temperatures as low as –40°C, the XC9108-EV large-tonnage battery-electric loader and the XC978-HEV hybrid loader. Mining is a pillar of Mongolia's economy, accounting for roughly 80 percent of national industrial output, with winter temperatures down to –40°C and frequent dust storms. XCMG said its integrated mining solutions suit low-temperature, dusty conditions and that it continues to hold a leading market share in Mongolia.

    Delivery Brief

FAW TRUCKS Delivers 100 6×4 Tractor Trucks to Nigeria

On September 30, 2026, FAW TRUCKS shipped 100 6×4 tractor trucks to Nigeria for fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) transportation, supplied to a major Nigerian transport company. All 100 trucks have completed vehicle inspections and been assembled at the port awaiting shipment. The report noted that Nigeria is Africa's most populous country and an important partner of China under the Belt and Road Initiative, and that parts of the country have challenging road conditions — high temperatures and dusty roads in the dry season, hot and humid conditions in the rainy season. FAW TRUCKS adapted its products to these conditions, emphasizing high reliability, high vehicle availability, low fuel consumption and easy maintenance to help operators reduce fuel and maintenance costs and improve fleet efficiency. In recent years the company has continued to expand in Northwest Africa, developing its local sales network, spare-parts supply and after-sales service capabilities, and said it will keep improving products and services based on local transport needs with a focus on reliability and lower total cost of ownership (TCO).

XCMG Delivers the 3,000-Tonne-Class Wheeled Crane XCA3000BR to Argentina

On September 30, 2026, XCMG announced that its XCA3000BR wheeled crane had been officially delivered in Buenos Aires, Argentina — China's largest-tonnage wheeled crane ever exported. Crane industry representatives from Brazil, Colombia, Chile, Venezuela and Mexico gathered to witness the delivery across the Pacific. Since 2024, the model has been delivered to South American customers on multiple occasions, continuously breaking XCMG's own record for China's largest-tonnage wheeled crane export. XCMG's crane portfolio in Argentina has expanded from 160 tonnes to 3,000 tonnes, and the XCA3000BR is the largest-tonnage wheeled crane in the South American market, serving large-scale wind power, mining and infrastructure projects. To address the long-distance relocation challenges created by Argentina's vast territory and complex working conditions, XCMG advanced product localization through multiple rounds of technical exchanges, project demonstrations and on-site condition assessments, balancing ultra-large-tonnage lifting with maneuverability across difficult terrain. A customer representative said the delivery of the 3,000-tonne-class crane fills the gap in Argentina's ultra-large-tonnage lifting market.

    Conclusion

Only Dongfeng's case in this batch represents real production capacity landing overseas; the rest is mostly catch-up on channels, certification and service. An order settles this quarter's shipments, while a service station and a parts warehouse settle the next five years. In most export markets, charging coverage, service reach and used-equipment residual value remain open questions without standard answers. If this direction holds, the yardstick for Chinese heavy-equipment exports may shift from how many units were shipped to what was left behind in the markets served. That is a race well worth watching.
