From February 27 to March 5, 2026, China’s heavy equipment industry entered a period of intensive development with remarkable highlights in export performance. Leading Chinese enterprises including Sany, XCMG, and SDLG made a collective appearance at CONEXPO 2026 in Las Vegas, USA, showcasing the strength of China’s intelligent manufacturing. Meanwhile, the three core sectors – heavy-duty trucks, construction machinery, and power systems – achieved strong progress, with outstanding results in overseas deliveries, technological breakthroughs, and industrial collaboration, driving the high-quality development of China’s heavy equipment exports across multiple dimensions and demonstrating strong industrial resilience and international competitiveness.
From March 3 to 7 local time, CONEXPO 2026, the international construction machinery exhibition in Las Vegas, USA, opened grandly. A group of Chinese heavy equipment enterprises participated as a unified force, becoming a highlight of the show and further expanding channels in the North American and global export markets.

Under the theme “Unite for a Shared Future”, Sany Group exhibited in a 4,686-square-meter booth, one of the largest at the show. It presented a complete product portfolio of 32 cutting-edge machines and 17 diversified attachments, including 10 new models exclusively developed for the North American market to fit local working conditions. At the exhibition, Sany demonstrated its AI service assistant, RootPilot system, and remote control technology, allowing attendees to operate excavators in China across the ocean. This fully displayed the intelligent advantages of China’s heavy equipment and laid a solid foundation for expansion in the North American export market.

With the theme “Solid XCMG, Steady Progress”, XCMG brought 35 models tailored for North America, providing integrated solutions for core construction scenarios such as earthmoving, lifting, and mining. A “mini construction site” was recreated on-site to intuitively present product adaptability. Its newly launched PRO series integrated intelligent interaction and self-diagnosis technologies, greatly enhancing human-machine interaction. With products and services well-suited to the local market, XCMG secured multiple intentional orders from North American dealers, achieving remarkable export signing results.

Shandong Lingong (SDLG) made a brilliant appearance at the 2,500-square-meter outdoor Diamond Zone booth. Centered on the concept “Global Layout, Local Execution”, SDLG displayed more than 20 selected heavy-duty machines, with several new intelligent and high-end products making their global debut, precisely meeting global customers’ construction and environmental requirements. It not only demonstrated the company’s technological strength but also further raised the profile of Chinese heavy equipment in the global market.

Foton Motor achieved a major breakthrough in overseas deliveries. The chairman of Nigeria’s Dangote Group led a delegation to visit Foton, where both sides held in-depth discussions on deepening strategic cooperation and advancing green industrial development in Africa. Dangote Group highly recognized Foton’s technological strength and globalization strategy. After the meeting, Foton delivered more than 1,000 CNG tractors and semi-trailers to Dangote Group. These units will be used for logistics and transportation in Nigeria and across Africa, providing reliable capacity for local infrastructure and livelihood support. This marks a new stage of cooperation and further consolidates the position of Chinese heavy commercial vehicles in the African market.

Lovol Heavy Industry, a subsidiary of Weichai, completed extreme tests on new energy construction machinery. Its “Three Highs” test team took three flagship models – FL960 E Ultra electric loader, FR215F E electric excavator, and LT130E pure electric mining truck – to the northwest plateau at 4,000 meters altitude and temperatures below 20°C for full-performance testing in extreme cold and oxygen deficient environments.Test results showed outstanding reliability and adaptability: the FL960 E Ultra still had 18% battery after 10 hours of continuous operation, and the LT130E could wake up with one click in extreme cold. This fully verified the robust performance of China’s new energy construction machinery, eased technical concerns in overseas markets, and laid a foundation for new energy equipment exports.

As a leader in construction machinery, Sany Group held a series of major events during this period to consolidate globalization momentum and clarify export strategies. On February 28, the 2026 Global Sany Day & 40th Anniversary Celebration under the theme “Gratitude for 40 Years, Innovation for Greater Glory” kicked off simultaneously at 118 venues across 40 global parks. Fourteen domestic business units signed performance commitments, defining a clear path for globalization and injecting internal impetus into export business.Previously, on February 26, Sany held the 3rd “Globalization Day” and Annual Commendation Ceremony in Changsha. It announced an upgrade of its global operational system around the “1223” core framework in 2026, targeting 300 billion yuan in revenue and a trillion-yuan market value. A total of 207 outstanding global teams and individuals were awarded, strengthening talent and team development for exports and supporting sustained growth in construction machinery exports.

From late February to the end of February, senior executives from Cummins worldwide and leaders of Shaanxi Automobile Holding visited Xi’an Cummins successively. Both sides emphasized deepening collaboration and breakthroughs in core technologies to support the upgrading of heavy equipment exports. As a joint venture between Cummins and Shaanxi Automobile Holding, Xi’an Cummins provides stable power support for Shaanxi Heavy Duty Truck’s export models. Its engine output and industrial output increased sharply in 2025, making it a key pillar supporting China’s heavy equipment exports.
Cummins deepened cooperation with leading domestic enterprises. On March 3, it signed a new joint venture cooperation agreement with XCMG Group, focusing on Xuzhou Meritor Axle Co., Ltd. to strengthen strategic coordination, expand system integration optimization and new energy cooperation, and extend the partnership to 2036. XCMG will provide support in order intake and technical coordination, while Xuzhou Meritor will optimize its supply chain based on Cummins’ global technologies and resources, further improving the quality and cost-effectiveness of export equipment.

During the period of February 27 – March 5, 2026, China’s heavy equipment export industry maintained a positive momentum featured by “strength shown at exhibitions, successes delivered overseas, bottlenecks broken via technology, and cooperation strengthened through synergy”.Leading enterprises leveraged international platforms such as the Las Vegas Show to present technological and product advantages. The heavy-duty truck, construction machinery, and power sectors advanced in tandem, with breakthroughs in overseas deliveries, continuous technological innovation, and deeper industrial chain coordination, further consolidating core export competitiveness.Overall, China’s heavy equipment exports demonstrate strong resilience. With sustained progress in globalization and continuous technological breakthroughs, export volume is expected to keep expanding and global market share will continue to rise.
